چکیده
Abstract Introduction Although the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) remains gold-standard metric of severity obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), it is often criticized for its limitations. The odds ratio product (ORP), a continuous standardized measure depth that ranges from 0 (deep sleep) to 2.5 (full wakefulness), has been proposed as potential EEG-based alternative assess OSA, including association with cardiovascular outcomes such elevated blood pressure (eBP). Methods We extracted ORP during rapid eye movement (REM) and non-REM stages EEG 421 adolescents (median 16y) Penn State Child Cohort. Higher indicates lower depth. Systolic diastolic BP levels were measured in seated position eBP was identified using American Heart Association guideline-recommended pediatric criteria. OSA defined an AHI 2 or greater events per hour sleep. Logistic regression models examined joint effect on eBP, while adjusting sex, age, race/ethnicity body mass index, stratified by presence OSA. Results found significant interaction between (p-interaction=0.016). Among each additional 0.5-point increase associated 6.3-fold (95%CI=1.9-20.6, p=0.003) eBP. Specifically, 6.4 mmHg (SE=3.0, p=0.036) higher systolic among These associations not without (eBP: OR=0.8, 95%CI=0.4-1.8, p=0.602 0.5 ORP). Conclusion Our data support prognostic sleep-EEG youth. Future clinical trials should examine added value endophenotyping, response treatment role improving outcomes. Support (if any) National Institutes Health (R01HL136587, R01MH118308, UL1TR000127)

Obstructive sleep apnea and the severity of coronary artery disease
Background: It has been implicated that obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease including stroke, myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease (CAD) and hypertension. The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between OSA and severity of atherosclerosis assessed by angiography. Methods: This study included 337 patients ...

Introduction: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients are at increased risk of sleep-disorders. The concomitant occurrence of COPD and obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is named overlap syndrome. This study aimed to evaluate the severity of OSAHS in overlap syndrome patients.Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on adult patients with forced...

UNLABELLED The Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome is a chronic disease characterized by episodes upper airway collapse, and has been associated with increased cardiovascular morbidity. AIM To correlate the neck, abdominal and pelvic circumference with the AHI and oxyhemoglobin saturation in OSA patients, and to correlate these values with disease severity. MATERIALS AND METHODS A prospective ...
متن کاملThe platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio reflects the severity of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and concurrent hypertension
BACKGROUND Chronic intermittent hypoxia, platelet activation and inflammation all play roles in the pathogenesis of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), which may increase the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship of the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) as a new biomarker showing systemic inflammation and platelet distribution width (...
